    Default Audio Alert Frequency?

I, along with many other people, have a high frequency hearing loss. I can't hear frequencies above a certain level no matter how loud they are. This means that many alarms, such as smoke detectors, cell phone ring tones, and various other electronic beeps are inaudible to me.

So it would be useful to know the frequency of the alerts on different radar detectors. Has anyone explored this or done any testing?

Hmm. It might be difficult to come up with the frequencies themselves but I have another idea that would probably do the trick. It should be feasible to come up with a video of the alerts for different brands. It would just take a X/K/KA/laser tester, a video camera, access to as many different varieties of detector as possible, and the time to do it. I envision something very simple in which you just see the detector along with it's printed name and watch the display as it is hit with the different bands. If you see a visual alert but can't hear the audio, that's a problem frequency.

In the mean time, take a look at the videos that have been posted. You ought to be able to find examples of at least the high-end detectors alerting on most if not all bands.

I don't know about other detectors but my V1's X band beep is roughly in the 2 KHz range. K and Ka use a "brap" sound that I think is two frequencies mixed together (I'll have to record it and look at the waveform). V1's laser sound alternates between 2000 and 2400 Hz approx (wild guess).

If you have trouble hearing cell phone ringtones you might have trouble hearing radar detectors as well. Escort's laser sound is similar to a cell phone ringing.
