I decided to ride out the storm in my home like most of my family about 30 minutes north of New Orleans. My entire town has sustained major damage and there is no electricity, no cell phone service, no regular phone service, no place to buy food, ice, or water. My house had a branch come through the roof and water came in my house. My parents house had 2 full grown trees that were at least 100 years old uprooted from the wind and water and crash through their house. Their house is a total loss but they cannot contact their insurance company. I just drove 10 hours from Louisiana to Texas with my wife and 3 year old daughter to stay with my mother-in-law. Both of my sisters husbands had to travel hours to buy a generator to have some kind of electricity. I am sad for New Orleans because it relies on tourism, seafood sales, oil refineries, and its historical beauty to make money and that is all gone. I will be staying in Texas indefinitely with no job until electricty is back which won't be back for months. I will keep in touch.

Default Lets Come Up with something

Even though Bigeasyguy is a V1 Fanatic he is one of our own!

I’m sure that things are very difficult for him and his family right now and that he could use a little help.

I am open for any ideas to have some sort of fund raiser on the forum to help him out.

    Some thoughts:
    1) Auction off some goods and/or services donated by me and/or other individuals
    2) Just asking members to donate some $$$ and send it to him and his family

Give me some feedback and lets get involved with helping him out

I like both those ideas, Roy. Perhaps you could do both.

Auctioning off donated items allows those who were planning on buying something to help out at the same time. For example, I'm thinking of adding a X50 to my collection, so I would bid on something like that.

And for those who who want to help out without bidding on an item, and also to allow those who didn't win the auction to still help out, allow people to make direct monetary donations.

I like this idea. I would be willing to donate money in a second to help him out.

I have been holding off on putting a computer together, but I have all the necessary parts from older computers I have scarpped. iIt would be...

    1.7ghz celeron
    512mb DDR
    100GB hard drive
    32mb tnt video
    floppy a:
    16x CD rom w/ 4 speed burner

Its not the best, but if you need a work computer tom, this would be more the sufficient for your needs. If he doesnt need a work computer, maybe I can auction it off to help?

Hey i'm very very sorry to hear about what happened. Hope your family will be fine and your situation with the house can work out with the insurance.

We get typhoons here in HK also but the damage is never so extensive....
