Does pop detection just detect very very weak signals of ka that would normally be filtered out? how does it work?
Does pop detection just detect very very weak signals of ka that would normally be filtered out? how does it work?
It detects the very short (67 ms or 16 ms) burst of radar that a gun in POP mode produces.
In the pre-POP days, detectors usually delayed 1/2 second or more before alerting, to reduce falsing.
So it has nothing to do with signal strength, but everything to do with duration and response time.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!
If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

so what exactly does it detect when pop falses oh so often?
Crappy RD's like Cobras.
One of our members up here has an RX65 and never saw a POP false until he drove in the US for a while so definately cheap RD's.
