    Default What would you buy?

I have a high octane sports car on order (Mercedes SLK 55 AMG) and want to install a built-in, hard-wired radar detector. I don't do a lot of fast driving but I do like to drive agressively when it is safe to do so. Haven't even owned a radar detector for 7-8 years since my last one (a Bell) was stolen out of my driveway. What do all you experts out there recommend?

Sweet car I would love to own one. X50, Rx65 or V1 they are all great. As of late I have heard that the RX65 is not the champ like it once was and that there are many issues with this detector.

When he says this, I read it as remote model - not dash model with hard wired cord.

In that case, I would recommend the Escort SR-7 and also a Blinder (once the next model of Blinder comes out) or a new Lidatek.

I'll give you my EVO, V1 & Blinder that will JTG 90% of the time for your SLK!!!! Sweet sweet car!!!

but no seriously I would not go the route of the dashmount. as of today I think you'll find that if you buy a V1 mount it up high next to the rearview, it will be out of VIEW for you and the people who leech. next you will be getting the best laser / radar detection with ARROWS which you will swear by.

for laser jamming I would seriously wait & consider the antilaser. the reason being I dont want VEIL any where near your car and I'm sure you dont either it will take care of the long range punch through and offer protection that can be hidden / packed away very nicely!

    enjoy the new ride!

    Default Easy choice

I can see we have similiar taste in vehicles.

In all of my Ferrari's I have a hardwired V1... enough said...

Don't waste your money on an Escort. You drive a high performance vehicle - outfit it with the best.

That is exactly what I meant.

V1= more prone to falsing, but has the best of the best laser detection. Only one to detect LA stealth mode.

X50 = Little falsing. Not too bad with laser. Same distance as V1 on ka and k (sometimes even better when it comes to speed signs).

RX65 = Good on detection, sux on laser. <--Might as well buy an x50 for a bit bigger price.

V1 also has the arrows and is the best for concealed mounting due to the concealed display option.

Huh? X50 with the red display is cheaper than the RX65, on Radarbusters anyway.

The only things the RX65 has over the X50 is the voice alerts (useless IMHO) and Ku detection (not important in the USA... yet).
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

V-1 for sure! Once you live with the arrows you wont go back to the others
