Exclamation Bel STi Driver vs. the 9500i(x) WHAT DOES IT COME DOWN TOO!?help!

Guys I got my STi stolen a few months ago, and I really need to buy a new detector. I'm aware of the new ramp up fix which is absolutely fantastic. The STi appears to have everything in order now.....all the glitches/fixes are done, the ramp up is great, etc. However theres still one thing that is holding me back from purchasing another Sti. It's the 9500i/9500ix. I really dont need/want all the gps features or fancy functions, but what i do want is what everyone wants in the RD........the best detection range/sensitivity on all (USA) bands of radar/laser. My STi was good, but i think the 9500i might be better. I really want an STi, but if the 9500i has better detection range, i might have to suck it up and get the 9500i. Stealth i dont really need, but i do sometimes go to VA and DC where i use it. What are your guys opinions? Does the STi have pretty much the same detection range/sensitivity as the 9500i, or is the 9500i clearly better? Thanks so much!

Comes down to if you want perfect (x50) like ramp up (STi) w/ spectre immunity.

or if you want a quiet ride w/ a shoddy rampup.

sensitivity I would say the STi should be a bit better, but they are probably very close to where it will come down to manufacturer difference.

This is what I was thinking.

They let you try it for 30 days and if you don't like it you can return it? I did not know this.

I have extensively used my STi and 9500i on the open road, and really don't note any obvious differences in performance with regards to K and Ka band detection. The STi does have a noticeable edge in X band detection though. Other than that, I am just as happy using either of these radar detectors on the open road.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I have used a V1 before, and it's just a little too chatty for me (also i really love spec mode. to see the requency).

If I were you I'd get the 9500ix. Reason? Well you say the V1 is too chatty, so you want some more filtering methods available to quiet it down. After you use the GPS lockout - all you'll have is quiet and the only alerts you'll get is a threat. Imagine how quiet that is!

This is true....however i just need some filtering just so its not extremely chatty like the V1. I don't really like over-complicated devices such as RD because I believe they should just be simple and effective. I know the 9500ix is useful and does a lot of good, its just i hate over complicating such things. Also, i dont want to pay a yearly fee for the red light camera detection.

The yearly fee is for updates, not detection, as I understand it.
