    Default BEL vS whistler

I Know the bel X65 is a better product than the whistler pro 73 But how muck better is in just picking up K and KA bands? How good does the bel work around sharp turns and hilly areas?

Can't answer your question just yet because I just ordered my RX-65 a few hours ago. But if the choice is only between those two, based on what I've read in this Forum the false alerts on the Whistler will drive you nuts. Call Roy and order the Bel.

When I was out in OH with the Guys of Lidar we tested a Whistler Pro 58. When they post the results you can see how it performed compared to the others.

Here are the results and you can see the Bell did much better than the Whistler but at almost 3 x the cost as well.

From what I know today, picking a RD, I would pick the Escort 85X50 over the new current Bel's, I know they are the same company, but, from what I have seen the escorts seem to do a better job in the real world then the Bel's, BUT I would be cautious, if and when Ku realy hits your area, you will have pissed all your money away with an Escort 85X50. That is why many pick the Bel with Ku detection in the future. But then again for today you want a RD that works! So back to being force into a $300 disposable RD.

I have an older Bel985, and love my Bel, and believe it to perform as good as a new Escort 85X50 if not better in real world experiences. However the older Bel985 are no longer made, for future reference I looked into the Euro Bel550, which basicly can scan for everything, but the setup for North American application would seem painstaking, although possible, but painstaking! The Bel I purchased at the time turned out to be the best, and even though I have excellent experience with Bel, for todays new RD, from what I know, the Escort is the ticket (no pun intended), if I had to buy a detector today (just so happens I am looking to buy for a family member).
