Aren't there some Multanovas in New Orleans (Louisiana)?

If indeed the effective range of the RedFlex is 300 ft, and the V1, from my visual estimate Alerted at 500 - 600 ft, it seems the V1 has quite acceptable detection to me. My car, at 80 MPH, can brake to 0 MPH in 159 Ft. Interpolating that, I can get from 90 MPH to a 55 MPH PSL is less than 100 ft. of course, no one can no longer give less credence to K-Band Alerts like one used to in areas where these are being deployed. This also bring up another point. In a pack of cars, do the same rules of a "Tracking History" pertain to a conviction?

Cliff: You have to also account for reaction time which is not generally taken into account with synthetic braking benchmarks. That's the big factor unless you are coiled like a snake ready to strike 100% of the time... Just a thought.

Yes you can stop in time if you KNOW THE ALERT IS REAL. i.e. if your non-V1 detector threw a Laser alert 200 ft before your speed can be acquired, you can probably escape detection if you're within a close margin of the PSL.

However, considering that this is on K band, all the uber-sensitive detectors are going to be squawking K-band everywhere anyway. I have no idea how the detector market is going to respond to this, other than by the workaround of marking locations.

For that matter, I CALL PRIOR ART IN CASE SOMEONE PATENTS THIS TOMORROW: what if MPH dumps POP mode for a stealth-mode which sends low-power radar that can only be used to take close-range stationary measurements? Your Mark Location button isn't gonna be much use there.

it looks like low powered K band crap is springing up all over the place

we got some here last week also but apparently the Multanova C vans will give a lot better warning than that

I'm not that worried about it personally, yes it can be a very bad thing but it seems like an easy fix and seems like it can be beat easily if your paying attention

plus they won't have something like that for another 5 years in VA, because were slow on everything. We don't even have laser really. Maybe a handful of units. No RLC's I have ever seen. And even though detectors are illegal we just got spectre's in recently

Trapster would help this if enough people used it. It relies on social networking to alert people, so it's real-time and constantly updated.

Heading out the door, check cell phone, "ooh, radar van on the way to work..."
