This thread will start off with the V1, but i suspect it will apply to all our detectors here.
here's a video of the V1 vs a DPS Redflex van using the low powered European guns in AZ. Redflex is deploying those same units in several states.
YouTube - Valentine 1 -v- Arizona DPS Photo Radar Van
It was on top of the van before alerting.
i plan on doing some extensive testing with many of the top units, ci, sti, X50, Rx65, etc... i'll also look at doing a vector series, whistler, and if i can find one even a cobra.
bottom line, the as of late, stale "detector wars" just got some new blood in them. let's see who steps up first.
Now for those thinking they'll still see it with plenty of time, over 100 people apparently didn't the first day they put these new vans out and got flashed. 40 vans will be on AZ highways.
also, if you're in an area of some falses, the initial alert could easily be mistaken for a weak false until you are at the van.
And no the V1 wasn't out of tune for the zombies, it works great against other radar units and i still use that V1 on the bike. i even took it out for some testing as i was shocked myself when i saw the video.
here' how that V1 (3.863) faired in a k band test by GOL:
Guys of LIDAR - Radar Detector Test - August 2007
as you see it as the top of the heap in k band detection. i spoke with a C100 customer yesterday who was telling me basically the same story about his V1 against a Paradise valley radar van, his is 3.819 with latest software in it as well.
last, let's not turn this into a zombie hate thread from either camp, we need to focus on the important matter, which is will our detectors give enough warning, and if not which manufacturers will be able to come up with something first.
