    Talking LEO Forum

Am I the only person who finds this intriguing. Cops post on forums too, and it is ideal to get as much information as you can about the the enemy.

One cop posted, "I don't know how many tickets I've issued and the drivers had a laser/radar detector. When they ask me for a warning I point to their detector and tell them that their warning is right there. Please, sign hard you are making 5 copies!" Folks, hide your detectors!

Another one said about lasar jammers ''even the quasi-effective ones only work for 5 seconds max so if it was a jammer you should have been able to get a reading eventually.'' Little does he know by the time he clocks us in, we are already at PSL.

Most of us have known about cop forums. Let cops think they are winning against radar users, esp when they get the cobra users lol.

As for detectors in plain site, I am a strong believer to get that detector down quick if you are going to get pulled over. I do it and many times I get off, barely a warning.

Wow. I am new to countermeasures, but I think it is crazy the cops will publicly display their tactics. I never understood the point of hard wiring detectors to the top of the windshield. Isn't it much more stealthy to just hid your detector in the glove box?

But detection sucks from the glove box

It's a cat and mouse game, they've got their role you've got yours, and both sides talk about it, they just do it in a few threads not a dozen forums, and they even read here just like you read there.

And with it well placed on the headliner in a sportscar and a well placed CD, there's plenty of hiding accomplished, and there's no questions about what was I hiding and can the vehicle be searched. Or even more heightened tension when the LEO walks up to the car.

I've been given more warnings than tickets since installing the RD.

The RD isn't why you get the ticket, it's what you do to get stopped in the first place (most have decided if they're going to write you before they reach your window)

I was thinking about this the other day actually. I drove from South Florida to Raleigh North Carolina and encountered radar on all bands at different points. It seemed like Ka was the most prevalent though. My Ka alerts were sporadic sometimes getting warnings well before seeing the LEO and other times I got nothing until I was practically on top of them, but that's neither here nor there.

What was more interesting was watching the other drivers. I figured out why LEOs say detectors don't work. The Cobras are everywhere. I really think that few motorists actually invest in something decent like a V1, Escort or Bel product. Most people get the Crapras one can find at Walmart for like $75. And you know what? Those don't work.

Sure, K band CO saves are cool. I have had them too. Many times. But when you get a save from 35.5 Ka CO or IO that is a beautiful thing.

I have found that asking LEOs about the viability of detectors varies. If you ask one you know personally and who you have hung out with when they're not on duty, they will tell you that detcetors work. You ask one who stopped you for speeding and has just given you the citation , well, not so much...
