Hey, I'll be buying a 2002 BMW M3 in a few months. When I get the vehicle, I will also be buying an Elite set of Countermeasures with it. And I wanted to get your opinions on the set up and install. Here are the countermeasures I will be buying:
Escort 9500ci - Running Ka & K W/ GPS & RLC enabled -- Running Expert Mode/Speed Display.
Beltronics STI-R - Running it on Narrow Ka Band on 35.5 Ka only - Everything else disabled pretty -- In Spec Mode.
Reasons/Notes: The reason I am instaling the 9500ci and the STI-R on the same vehicle is that the 9500ci is a great detector and should meet my every needs. But I'm so scared of 35.5 Ka that honestly right now I dont even trust my detctor. Its just too deadly, and I'm tired of worrying all the time that I'm going to get hit with it on one of those curvy roads. So I will be buying the STI-R and only putting it on 35.5 ka band. That way I don't have the falses that It would produce if all bands where on and I'll be gettting the best protection against 35.5 that I can.
Laser Interceptor Front (Reg) & Rear (Slim) Quad Unit (TrueSpeed Enabled)
VEIL & 2 LASER SHIELDS -- Veil not on headlights but fog lights and anything else reflective that veil can be applyed to.
Notes: Want the best Protection even though my car has a low profile and my state rarely uses laser.
*Cobra CB Radio: Stealth Mounted
*Uniden Digital Trunk Scanner - BCD996T or BCT15
Liquid Crystal Display License Plate Hider - For Toll & So that If needed at a time I can make my license plate invisible so no tag conformations/readings can be made.
Amber/White LED Visor Bar - For driving at highspeeds, as an extra saftey procedure have that turned on so that people know of my presense.
Blue/Blue or Blue/White LED Visor Bar - For rally's and/or normal driving, when absolute neccessary turn it on to get the person in front of me out of the way, so I can start moving
Siren & Strobe Lights - Seperate On/Off Switches for each: Strobe Lights - All on, Strobe Lights - Front, Strobe Lights - Back
Rear Brake Light: Kill Switch
Rear Light: All off Kill switch
*Cheetah Wireless Laser Jammer Interface - LI Enabled
*Cheetah Wireless Radar Detector Interface - 9500ci and STI-R enabled.
Sony 4.8 Luxury GPS System: 525.00
4 Way Camera - Front, Rear, Side(s)
*CB Radio: I'm looking for a Cobra CB Radio but would like it in black instead of that glaring silver. Do they run a series of there elite Cb's, in black?
*Uniden Trunk Scanner: I'm need a digital scanner. I was wondering, the Bear Tracker tells you if a cop is within 3 miles of your location, does the 966t do the same? And whats the differences between the two?
*Cheetah Wirless Detector and Jammer Interface: Come on cheetah, please make this product. It would help out so much, especially in my case where I'm looking at having to gut my entire inside just to hide all of these wires.
*HUD Display: I have seen somebody do it on here, who was that? And where can i find this, also one compatible with a radar detector so I can incorporate my rd & lj plus speed and maybe gear shift (doesn't matter, though)
Positions of RD's and Laser Jammers:
9500ci & STI-R Mounting Positions: I have a few Ideas on mounting positions. Here they are, Please note which you think would be the most effective. I'm feeling that position 2 would be best but would like everybody elses input.
Position 1: 9500ci Drivers Side Fog Mounted & STI-R Passenger Side fog mounted
Position 2: 9500ci Under License Plate/Mesh Grill & STI-R Roof Mounted
Position 3: 9500ci Drivers Side Fog Mounted & STI-R Roof Mounted
I love the roof mounting idea, but I would like to stay away from it. I feel that it would give me the best detection for 35.5 and I could make it look like its a part of the car, but its a lot of work. I'll have to get the mount/radar antenna holster box painted too. So any alternitive ideas, that would still give me a high line of sight (grill to roof) are good.
Laser Jammer Positions:
I Personally like Position 2 better because I feel it will cover more area, like the exahust tips and will still cover the main areas just as well, if not better than position 1.
I want this to be one of the most unique and deffinatly cleaniest installs ever.
Most of everything will be bought when I get the car of maybe before, but not all of it. The neccessity's/wants are first, then secondary things next.
Thanks for any opinions or comments. Bad or negitive comments are welcome, thats what Im here for!
