On the fence V955 or XTR695

I am new to the forum and having trouble deciding what to get Maybe you guys can help. Drive mostly highway throughout New England, more Mass and Conn. But I know most of the hiding spots on the major highways so I would prefer better performance on the side streets and smaller highways.
I currently own an older escort 4600, it has had adequate performance and am looking for a new RD for my other car.

I personally prefer the V955 over the XTR-695 for two reasons:

1. Although I have never tested a Rev C directly against a Vector series Bel, I think the V955 is more sensitive than the Whistler, especially on K band.

2. I'm not a fan of the LCD display of the Whistler XTR RDs. I much prefer the LED display of the V955. LCD displays are difficult to see during bright sun-shiny conditions.

Just a preference, but I don't think either will disappoint.

Depends on what you'll be encountering in the areas you drive. The Whistlers are known to be good at filtering falses so it's recomended to get the 955 if K band is in use in your area. I'm not sure if the same also applys to X band or not, but I do know both those RD's will tell you what equipement your locals use.

Mostly highway driving, I give the V955 an edge in terms of overall performance. If on the other hand your driving was mostly city/suburbs, then I would prefer the XTR-695 for less false alerts. Both are really good radar detectors in terms of performance. You really can't go wrong with either radar detector. Both are really good products by good companies.

I'd bet neither do, but I've never tested that.

detecting stealth mode laser or laser detection period should not be an issue when choosing a radar detector.....All a radar detector will do when alert you to laser it let you know that you have been shot and he has your speed......

Laser detection on a radar detector is useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are worried about laser get a laser jammer!

I would go with the BEL v955
