    Default POP Poll

After reading this description about pop http://www.kc8unj.com/radar/guysoflidar/pop.html
and finding out that pop can be used while moving .....do you think you will turn pop mode on if it's not already on??? I don't have it on now but after reading this I wonder whether I should turn it back on,,, on my X50 despite a few false alarms once in a while?? And also what if a cop tries to issue tickets out using POP because there are alot of dishonest policeman.... ops:

I voted no, simply because POP is only a threat in a few states/locations. Since your poll says "should EVERYONE have POP on?", well not everyone IMHO.

I would use a false/threat ratio in determining whether POP should be on or not. First of all, is POP used where you drive? If not, then leave it off. Second, when you have it on, how many falses do you get (aka how many drivers have Cobra RDs in your area)? Once a week, once a day, 10 times a day? That's a factor too. If it falses too much, it's almost worse than not having POP on since you might ignore a real threat.

I just got a new X50, and I plan on turning POP on only when driving in areas that potentially have POP threats (such as CT and NY). But if I get a lot of falses and no real POP hits, off it goes. I may turn it on for a week while at home too, just to see how much it does false on my regular commuting routes.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I already have POP on, but if I didn't I would be turning it on. Initially I thought that if POP is only stationary then why would a PD not just buy LIDAR instead... This would be a pretty limiting factor as to why a PD would buy it. Now reading that it can be used while moving that changes a lot. More PD's will be buying these just like they will be buying the LA Stealth Lidar... This is about the revenue they generate, and this is a pretty slick way to generate it.

There will be more POP on the way... Unless court cases start to throw POP based tickets out. LEO's are not "suppose" to use it for writing tickets... Fat chance.

I voted yes only because I haven't had any trouble with POP on my V1. 9 falses out of 10 the "J" alert will clean things up so I know what's going on. I drive where POP may be used so it's worth it to me, and it wouldn't hurt me even if I didn't.

Despite a few false alarms...a few? It does depend on where you live etc but mine will go off at least 3 times in 8 miles. I turned it on for grins on my way to work a couple of times and it goes off way to much.

If it did not false as much, then yes...more protection.

POP is a non-factor for the overwhelming majority of the United States.

In Outrun's trailer from the 8/26 testing, you can see a night shot where he zooms in on a radar unit that was in a police car that had responded to some kind of call at a hotel. That was either a BEE III or Enforcer with POP...
