Default rx65 or x50 for my sister

Ok my sister just got her licenense and her new car, but however she wants an rd . I made my two choices down to rx65 and x50. As you all know that they Leos around me use only ka 35.5. which two of these detectors are good at detecting 35.5. If some escort 8500 users could chime in here of there real world experience with 35.5. Thanks

The performance is basically equal. I say X50 because I prefer expert display over threat display and I prefer the Escort alert tones over the Bel alert tones.

The RX 65 is better than the X50 when it comes to off axis. This is based on the X50 rev5. I don't know about the newer X50 version. I have a chance to test this with my X50 rev5 and 10-8's RX65 vs 35.5 kustom eagle and decatur speedtrack.

She just got her license? You better be careful and really think about this decision. Unless she knows it's not a license to speed I would be wary.

I've used a RD since I got my license. I think it is the way to go. Always keep a clean driving record. Just make sure the user knows how to use a RD effectively and smartly.

I don't know. I've had some real close calls with my X50 against constant 35.5 around curves where I wasn't going more than 5-10 over. Granted, it could just be the age of my rev 6.1.

I'd lean towards the RX65. It has a USA Mode for Ka band which can make it slightly more sensitive to the 3 frequencies used in the US. It also has voice alerts which your sister might appreciate if she's not very electronics oriented.

that's the best time to get a RD...I've been driving with an RD since I got my permit
why risk F*ing up your brand new Driving record.

to the OP I had an RX-65 for 35.5 it worked great and saved me lots of times, I did run it in USA mode
