Everytime I pass the lumberstore, I pick up a false KA.

Hey guys im just curious if anyone out there knows why I always pick up a false KA reading everytime I pass the local lumber store on the way to school. I was reading about other falses but nothing relevant to KA. It's only when I pass that place, no other location has been like that other than K, or X(Turned off because annoying).

Correct sir, it is on the PNI I have hard wired to my bike. (BTW, I really appreceate your posting the Radar Range chart even though me and many others keep asking "How far do guns detect")

Maybe an out of spec motion sensor? If one were to drift from 10.5 to 11.2 Ghz, a harmonic would be produced in the Ka band (11.2 x 3 = 33.6 GHz). That might be a little far fetched though. I have heard that sometimes the PNI's are a little prone to false on Ka for some reason. Maybe a motion sensor that is only slightly outside of the X-band range 10.500-10.550 could somehow produce a Ka false on the PNI.

There could be something completely different going on though. Best thing to do would be to try going by with a different detector and see what happens, or have a friend with a different detector try it...

Some Whistlers have a similar oddity of detecting certain K band door openers as Ka. Odd..

Ill stick with jimbos explanation....although I wasnt wearing my lab coat when I read it....

Im sure this sort of equipment would drivt very easy, say it could have been hit or got hot in the sun etc...
