Default Sethy what happened? SML vs GOL results

Since Sethy was present at both tests, I'd like to know from the "horsesmouth" why such radically different results showed up for POP mode?

Also the jammers seemed to be far more effective in the SML test.

    Could you please inform us?

*EDIT* I just realized RadarRoy was also at the tests, maybe he can provide some insight.

    Default jammers

Look at the testing that was done at SML on the jammers

    They didn't care about JTM

All that was tested was performance at 1000' and 500' cones

I'm confused now, so the 100% score means the jammer detected a laser hit, but says nothing about whether a reading was obtained?

That seems like a rather useless piece of information. The V1 detected all the hits, but if a reading is obtained what's the point?

As far as POP it could have been that Carl unintentionally misused his pop guns because I would bet my life on it that there is NO WAY that ANY detector currently on the marker can detect 16ms POP that high of a percentage. 10% of the time if they are lucky.

I think an engineer like Jimbo who Read the manual may actually be in a better position to operate pop properly over many cops who just pick up the gun and use it as they have used any other in the past.

Well it does say that SML was using 24.150 GHz on the K band POP, if it makes a difference, I wouldn't really know...

Either way, the vast differences between SML test from year to year and the GOL testing leads me to believe either the tests are not reliable (they cannot be repeated), or they are not valid (they do not measure what they are supposed to).

I'm really curious to know from the people who attended both tests what the differences were.

    Default Well..

I really doubt most LEOs bother to read manuals..and that as long as they get a # reading from their RADAR, they believe it's accurate.. and I also doubt any traffic court judge who is probably a retired LEO will believe a reading is innacurate or care if the LEO read a manual or used a device 'properly'..if it gave a ## then that's it, case closed.. I would assume..whether it was 16MS POP or 67MS and it was backed up by a traditional reading, will be irrelevant to most.

Nah, all regular K-Band police radar is spec'd at that freq. The only thing I know of that isn't is a couple of photo radar units at 24.125 GHz...
