Default sun protection w/o reducing performance

I was debating whether or not to mount my 955 behind the tint strip so it would stay out of the sun, but i was concerned about its performance. So this is what i did. the RD stays out of the sun, but the actual antenna is below the tinting. I don't think that this will cause an issue, but am not completely sure.

As long as it's not behind those dots you're good. I mount mine high up behind the tint you have and I have noticed no decrease in range. Factory tint strip.

Don't worry about factory tint strips, they might affect laser but that does not matter. Also, is it just me or does the detector look like it is pointing up in the first picture?

I think its just the slope design on the top part of the RD that gives the inpression thats its facing a little bit upwards cobra style

I pick up Infinities all the time with my V1 and Blinder even behind the tint. I'm confident it would pick up laser scatter ALMOST as well as if it weren't behind the tint.

I'm pretty sure that it's level, and yes I would like to hardwire the detector, but I'm kinda scared to mess with my still new truck, if anyone with a late model tacoma could give me very detailed instructions on how to do it I might consider it.
