Default Hi I am new here

Hi I'm new here and I would like to find about some information about radar detectors. I have had too many tickets and everytime I would always say to myself I would get a radar detector now I will. However, I dont kno which one to get. Im quite new here and dunno much about radar detectors. So my question is which radar detector would you guys recommend? I was considering either getting the Escort 8500 X50 or the Solo S2. Which ones better and which ones out of these two would you get if you dont live either one?

    8500 X50 is better then any cordless(Solo S2)

from the recent test results I recommend the following:

    Bel RX65 and Valentine 1

i need a radar detector that can also pick up laser... I have had a few tickets where they got me with laser.. the cop caught me when i didnt even see him.. he was exactly 835 feet in front of me..as i saw him about 50 feet away i was able to slow down to the 40 miles only speed zone and he followed me and got my license and then stopped me and gave me a ticket

i feel you, got ticketed by laser using an Escort 8500(non X50)

V1- best laser detection BY FAR------- doesnt matter because once your hit its over

I would recommend getting Laser Veil and Laser Shield---- will give you a little time to react

Best thing is to get a jammer------ not the expert on jammers so other members have you fill you in on this one

Laser detection is useless unless you use Veil and a jammer (I don't, unfortunately, though I plan to rectify the lack of Veil in short order). Nine times out of ten, by the time your detector shows a laser hit, they've already got you--the beam is just too narrow to pick up unless it's aimed straight at you.

For laser--I rely on the guys in front of me and hopefully I will pick up the radar deflection to alert me and I can slow down....

For best laser detection though V-1 always wins

thnx i think im gona go with the 8500 X50.. the RX65 i have never heard of until now and i have read else where on this forum that it picks up more false alarms and have other problems.. I would get the valentine as I ve heard of it all over the place and I know its good but i dont plan on paying 400 bucks for a radar detector while i can get the 8500 X50 half off from best buy thnx guys i hope i make the right decision

You should buy the X50 from RadarRoy, not BestBuy. When you buy from RadarRoy you get great service and you support this board. I don't think you'll get half off, but you might be able to work something out with radarbusters.com

I got mine from Best Buy, partially because I didn't know of this forum yet, but mostly because the employee discount on those things is insane. You have no idea what kind of profit margin big companies get on radar detectors.
