Question about Ka Band

Ok i was just out driving i got a 2-5 Bar Ka hit it went on for about 10-20 sec then went away. My question is i scanned everywhere looking for a leo but couldnt find/see anything Is there anything else that puts out a Ka band like that?

Sorry if someone already asked this question i tried searching but didnt find anything.

I didnt have my STI in spec mode so not sure what the spec was. just wondering was there a leo and i just missed it?

Yes,leaky rd's like Cobra....I run a RX75 Pro Plus with my antenna mounted low and still pick up their crap..

Sometimes I get Ka band from semi trucks. I followed one one time and picked up Ka for the whole few miles or so we were together. I think it's some sort of collision avoidance system or something.

i dont think it was another RD cause it was just me and 1 othere car on the road and i had been following him for 10 min or so with no hits. Didnt see any trucks either. iam soo stumped lol

Hmm dunno now what else could cause it.I know sometimes you can pickup signal bounce.which would give you inconsistent alerts.

Could it be posible one of the cross streets i was passing had a leo doing radar down it and i was picking up that? would that type of a cross hit last for 20 sec?

That is a possibility.There are countless possibilities.As long as you continue to keep your eyes searching,you'll be good.

KA Band in Ontario is *always* legit.

The police here do a wonderful job keeping the inferior detectors off the streets, thus us STi users get no falses.

I've gotten hits from officers running on side streets, or even on parallel streets two blocks over. It all depends on the traffic, buildings and position of the officer.

Also, I've noticed most officers in Ontario don't turn off their radar for any reason. I've found them parked and in the coffee shops with their KA blasting away. Perhaps you passed one parked in a store lot?

It could very well be a cop that is no longer on your street, or blasted IO and started moving, etc. Or it's rare but possible for a detector to be momentarily confused and react to some stray signal before realizing it's not actually there.

hey guys thanks for all the input i always slow down when i get a Ka hit but i always see a leo but this time i didnt so was just trying to see if it could have been something else.
