What airport(s) are you guys getting these laser falses at?

There is usually only one terminal radar in a large metropolitan area, usually located at the largest airport in the area. Just because the airport has a control tower does not mean that it has radar, usually towers will share a radar feed from a central location.

Radars for en-route centers are usually located in fairly remote locations, away from airports. If one is located close to a road, you'd know it is there. They are usually contained in large radomes, probably 50 feet in diameter. They're a bit hard to miss.

I am on the north side of Greensboro NC (GSO) next to the new FedEx hub. I havent seen a doppler antenna close by. The area where I have been getting the falses is sort of close to the end of the runway but actually past it a lillte more that 1/4 mile. The area used to be wooded but is now split into two new roads that were built.
Falsing area is still the same. I am going to put binoculars in my car and just stop/scope it out next time from the spot I get the alert. If I get it figured out Ill try to get pictures of the offending device.

I get it at Miami International on both 826 and 836 (expressways) and on I95 when going by Ft Lauderdale International. I really do not know if its windshear lidar (I know Miami has lidar for its windshear detection) or if its the radar... I will try to figure it out. I will also post a map if I remember when I am at home.

Miami and Greensboro both have air search radar on site, Ft Lauderdale does not though, they receive approach/departure services from Miami.

Greensboro should have a radar onsite, but I couldn't find it on Microsoft Live Maps. The FAA says they have one there, but it may be located off of airport grounds.

I still maintain that it is the RVR equipment that is causing these falses for most people. All of the airports that have been mentioned have RVR equipment, but not all of them have an ASR at the airport.

Thanks Professor Bonzzz....I get regular false alerts near Phoenix Sky Harbor at about the same spots each time. I'll try out covering the laser sensors and see what I get.

I disagree; RVR typically uses shorter-wavelength, true lasers at 500-600nm or so, such as these most popular units here: Transmissometer | For Runaway Visual Range and Measurement of Visibility

I found my likely suspect. It has a red rotating dish type antenna at the bottom and a taller thin eifel tower type antenna going up next to it. There is a small building right next to them. It reminds me of the kind of thing you see on those military videos that they bomb to take out enemy comunications.

Yes, the "rotating red dish" thing transmits at 220 kW. It's the most likely cause of the overload theory

It is actually about 25kw peak, 2.5kw nominal.

Longer range radars (ARSR-4 is what I have the specs for) is 65kw, but again, these are usually in rather remote areas.
