Would turning off one band greatly increase the sensitivity of another?
Example: Pa only has K and Ka. So if i turn off laser, pop, and X would that greatly increase the sensitivity of the K and Ka?

sure, less things to scan better performance on other bands.
may be a sec or 2 but still good.
Theoretically it should improve performance somewhat since there are less frequencies to shuffle through, but this test shows otherwise.
Guys of LIDAR - Radar Detector Test - August 2007
Look at the "Experimenting with settings" section.
Looks like results are pretty inconsistent here, I think the differences are so minimal that it doesn't really matter.
It looks like turning POP off MIGHT increase range VERY SLIGHTLY, but this test kind of shows that there's like almost no difference.
Moral of the story...only turn off bands if you are SURE they are not used in your area. I guess X off in PA is ok.
I live in PA and I have X turned on on my v995, I just put it on autoscan most of the time to filter most X falses off.

Being in a K and Ka dominated area, I'd think twice about turning POP off as a default. Unless it causes terrible falsing, I'd leave it on. Reportedly having POP on will increase the chances of getting an early K hit. Also check to see if the guns used in PA are POP capable, if so, leave it on. Legally POP can't be used to issue tickets, but you just never know.
I know for sure that when you disable X-band on ValentineOne you are ONLY turning off X-band audio alert.ValentineOne will still sweep X-band.
I think Belsocrts also have the K band POP. The X50 alert for POP, though, is a full blast Ka alert, while I think Bels have a distinct one they use for POP or I/O.
As for scanning time, I think some older Whistlers did actually stop scanning the band, but most of the newer ones only mute/don't display the alert. Only exception might be the STI-R, with the option to turn off segments of the Ka band, ala RX-65 USA mode.
Everyone is talking about detector scanning
Does that mean it scans for a certain band at one time really really fast or does it scan all of them at once?
Turning off X band shouldn't make a difference since, even though X band alerts are suppressed when X band is turned off, a radar detector still sweeps X band in order to rule out false alerts from other radar detectors. At least that is what I have been lead to understand.
