Re: Cheap Ass Radar Detectors
Well, China never gives up on trying to product cheap knock-offs of well known American and European products. And that is exactly what they are -- cheap -- in every sense of the word. Cheap in price, cheap in performance, and cheap in reliability.

The best of what is inside the actual detection circuitry of North American designed and manufactured radar detectors:

The best of what is inside the actual detection circuitry of North American designed but overseas manufactured radar detectors:

The best detection circuitry of the just recently released Cobra models, whose products are designed and manufactured by BG T&A in China:

The best detection circuitry of what is produced by unknown Chinese manufacturers:
???
Conclusion? The North American manufacturers (Bel, Escort, Whistler and Valentine) hold virtually all of the patents related to radar detector electronics design.

Re: Cheap Ass Radar Detectors
I personally would enjoy seeing a test of the cheap ass radar detectors. Not the ones in the video necessarily but some of the Whistlers such as the model I use; the XTR-550. Anything under $150.
