1. I was going fairly fast on the left fast lane of 55-limit 4 lane interstate tollway (IL) a couple of weeks ago. It was near 5pm Saturday evening and starting to get dark.. the tollway was near full capacity with many cars.
I spotted Leo up ahead sticking out of the median U-turn slot and slowed down to 65. A silver Grand Am appeared behind me and was now stuck to my rear bumper tailgating to show his displeasure as I slowed down even more as I was getting closer (about 50 ft) to the Leo. I switched lane to the 2nd lane and started to 'mark' the location on my 9500ix. The silver grand am, now besides me yet on the left lane, unaware of the Leo up ahead floors it. About 20 ft from the Leo I get Ku band alert (first time getting "Ku" for me) from the IL state trooper. The Grand Am finally realizes the Leo ahead and tries to slow down but too late... as now I am passing by the trooper and I can see that he's clocked the grand am as the trooper gets busy turning his headlight on and tries to pull out. Too many cars and it takes the trooper a while to final pull out. From about some 100 yards or so behind me the trooper turns his cherry on and speeds up.. flies pass me... another 20 yards or so up ahead.. he slows down for a moment... then turns his cherry off... it's obvious that he now can't find the grand am... seemed lost for a moment or two... he then cuts across 3 lanes in high speed and turns his cherry back on behind a black Cadillac...????
I don't know... I have pretty good awareness of what going around me while I'm driving... If you ask me this Cadillac wasn't even in the picture at the time and as now I'm doing something like 60 mph this cadillac is, if anything, doing little more than 60. Well... whatever... who am I to argue? I was thinking...."I'm glad it wasn't me"... like a sheep....
2. The same 4 lane tollway, only going opposite direction on Sunday morning a week later. A gold Jaguar in front of me doing 70-ish... then 65-ish on the left most lane. I should have passed him earlier but this Jaguar seemingly would keep up with the flow of traffic... but... he didn't. He starts to play game as every time gap opens up on the right lane between cars he would speed up or slow down to block me from passing him on the right lane. This goes on for a while until my adrenaline shoots up.
I calmly followed him behind a couple of car length as now cars started to back up behind me and making attempts to get around me and this @&& blocking the fast lane.
Well.. my philosophy... if you let them fall asleep the lanes open up. Finally when I saw that I could get around this b@&$ I floored it.... Just about when this guy lost all interest chasing me as I opened up the gap and I was getting ready for the next speed trap zone coming up around the bend I notice this unmarked brand new black Cherokee with cherry lit under his front grill behind me.
Well my heart dropped out of my chest as I moved over to the right lane hoping he would pass me by. I was hoping he's in hurry to go somewhere... Well wrong.. he followed me to the right lane. Well, I figured he got me. As this is 4 lane highway I move back to the left lane then to the shoulder of the median... I looked back and he followed me... then he makes quick turn and gone! ..... Oh the humanity... I was in this quiet peaceful place... and relieved... thinking I'm still on a ticket.
Well I followed him from far enough distance for some 10 miles. He had a cherry light strip on his rear window and then some. He, at least, turned his cherry on two more times but didn't pull anyone over. He was going at 65~75-ish only. I've seen cops in hurry to get some where; they'd be going much faster. I have no clue what that was about??? But surely made me re-evaluate my approach though.
