Why is it that some LEO's leave their radar on while driving?

I pick them up all the time on my V-1 and it is very apparent that they are not doing speed enforcement.

You assume a constant-on (c/o) radar gun isn't doing radar enforcement. Since only a very small percentage of drivers are using a detector, c/o works perfectly well in picking off the vast majority of drivers.

I wish they would all use constant on.

For the exact same reason that we all use constant-on radar detectors.

Because you never know when you're going to need it.

They leave it on because probably only 1 out of every ten drivers has a radar detector and it is probably the hottest Cobra they just picked up from some crap store. And lastly, because many cops are LAAAZZZYYYY (sing this to Patsy Kline's classic Crazy) Too Lazy For Using Instant-On Radar.
