    Default what does the gun diode do.

    this may have been mesioned before but what the hell does it do!

    It generates low power microwave signals: http://www.radio-electronics.com/inf.../gunndiode.php

    They're used as the radar source in radar guns, and (sometimes) as local oscillators in radar detectors.
