external speaker questions???

ok. so i like to listen to my music rather loudly and have trouble hearing my radar. i know i know, just dont listen to your music so loud. anyways i found the little external speaker for radars on the bel website, however my rx65 is not listed on the usefull models. will my rx65 work with the speaker. and also how loud is this speaker. 5x louder than the radar itself, 8x louder, 10x louder?? and last does it just plug into the earphone input on the radar and also have to be wired to a 12v source..thanks for ya'lls time.

I've never used this speaker, but here are a few assumptions JUST IN CASE you were looking for someone to make an ass out of u and me. The specs say that the speaker DOES have to be hooked up to a 12v power source. The fact that it has stand alone power tells you that it has some sort of amp in it which allows you to ASSUME that they weren't happy with the power output of the RD to it, and wanted it to be LOUDER. I have never seen an RD with +/- outputs for sound, so you can ASSUME that the speaker has a 1/8" or (mini?) headphone male plug. If the speaker has a 1/8" plug and your RD has the smaller type (used by most cell phones) you can buy an adapter that would, theoretically, work. If that is the case, I would advise you to get an adapter that has a 90 degree bend in it, just so you don't have a wire sticking 2" out of the side of your RD.

I'm not currently using a Bel product nor using an external speaker...But here's what I could find -

Your RX65 isn't listed as compatible but I found in the pic below what looks to be like a 3.5mm female headphone jack on the right side of the unit.

Next I found a pic of an escort external speaker. The Escort and the BEL speakers are MOST LIEKLY going to be similar. I can see in the pic that there is a 3.5mm male heaphone jack.

I can only imagine any external speaker will be sufficient enough to be heard over music being played.

Yes, The beltronics website says it in the auxiliary speakers description.

All in all, it should be safe to say your detector will work the external speaker and it should be loud enough to be heard over music.
