I am selling my V1 (latest edition), not because of performance. The V1, as you know, is a great radar and laser detector. A little chatty, but its sensitivity is phenomenal.
I'm trying to decide between the GX 65 and 9500 ix. I know they are very similiar (sister companies) and have read for the past couple of days on RD.net about the pros/cons of each.
Red light cameras are popping up everywhere where I live, plus I now have to deal with several speed vans (low powered K band signal). I haven't been able to find any reviews concerning the detection range of low powered K band signal) for the GX 65 and 9500 ix. Have you heard anything or have any first hand knowledge how they stack up?
The bogey counter was very useful. I see that Escort has a threat meter that will show you multiple signals (2 KA, 2 K and 4 X), while the GX 65 can only show one of each. Am I correct in saying this? Picking up more threats and being able to see them would be better, right? Why is there a difference between the GX 65 and 9500 ix?
Regarding the lock out feature, I know the 9500 ix has an auto learn capability, while the GX 65 has to be programmed in. I have read numerous messages either for or against true lock that is has really confused me. Auto learn seems like a very nice feature, but is it a necessity? Or should I go the more manual route?
Laser and detection. It's starting to become more of a priority here in Louisiana. I know Radar Roy doesn't believe any detector can help (read his latest tests) and I will go the Blinder route (this summer, their new product arrives), but for now, how does the 9500 ix or GX 65 stack up against the V1 for laser detection? Any GOL tests with the 9500 ix or GX 65?
And finally, which company updates their database more frequently for red light cameras?
Please be gentle. It's my first post in almost 2 years on here.
