    Default Today's Testing With Racer-X

Well we started this (Friday) afternoon and plan on doing another full weekend of testing. Today Racer X came up to our offices to test his new Blinder set-up that he received this week.

We made over 50 runs using different mounting locations against my new LTI, and my Stalker and Laser Atlanta.

Off course the big test was the Laser Atlanta in Stealth Mode.

Over 10 runs were made using his new Blinders while the Laser Atlanta was in Stealth Mode. In each run the Blinder detected and jammed!

All the runs were video taped by Racer X, and I recorded the first run, that was jam to gun. This video is available here:
    http://www.radarbusters.com/resource...ealth-mode.htm

The Drive Smart was also evaluated (with more testing planned this weekend)

This is a GPS device that you can download known photo radar and red light camera locations into the unit that will warn you of the location as you approach. The unit we evaluated also has a laser detector front and back on the dash mounted control head and en external laser detector antenna. We had some problems installing the external laser antenna and today’s test was using only the internal laser sensors on the dash unit. We will install the external laser antenna as soon as we get some more information from the company. The company is also planning on coming out with a laser jammer sensor and perhaps a radar jammer sensor in the near future.

Overall the unit was very easy to install and operate and the GPS is very accurate. As we do not have any photo radar/red light cameras in our locations, I programmed it to alert to other spots in the area. The device gave enough warning as we approached these programmed locations.

One major concern that I have with the unit, is the delay of it reporting a laser hit. With the LTI it took 3 – 4 seconds to alert, with the Stalker 2- 3 seconds, with the Laser Atlanta in normal mode 3 – 5 seconds and it would not alert at all when the Laser Atlanta was placed into Stealth Mode. To watch a video of this test, you can click here:
    http://www.radarbusters.com/resource...ve-smart-1.htm

The audio alert also is a very low tone voice alert that could be easily missed with the radio playing. Instead I would rather see the unit come out with a more audible tone alert, followed by the voice alert.

As this is a new unit being tested for the International market, I am sure that the manufacture will come up with a fix for these concerns.

The third item that I am testing this weekend so far has “blown me away” and I cannot say much about this product until I get permission from the manufacture.

However I can tell you this. It is a remote mounted radar detector that took me a total of 4 minutes to install once I took it out of the box!

When I was told by the “overseas” manufacture that they would be sending me a unit for my review, I can tell you that I was expecting another POS that I am used to getting. Not this time! In the over the hill and curves testing it’s performance was equal to my Escort SR7.

This unit does NOT have several features such as POP or X band, for the US market, but I expect that they can be easily added.

Tomorrow I’ll be doing the long range testing and report back to the manufacture and hopefully can provide more information if, when and where unit will become available.

Wow, Great report! Great video! How many heads did RacerX have active on that JTG run? Finally some good news.

The DS stuff sounds interesting. It will be even more interesting to see if they are able to fix the things you identify.

Sounds exciting on the remote RD. So do you think they are going to modify it for the US market? It doesn't by chance have a display that tells you which direction the radar is coming from does it or a counter for the multiple signals?

Thanks for the update and can't wait to hear about the new product you are testing. My hat off.

    Default US

Have no idea what their plans are and I really cannot comment on more then I already said until they say yes. It is a VERY basic unit and taking 4 minutes to install out of the box so you can use your imagination on how everything connects.

But for where and what they are using it for it fills that regions needs (No they don't use the Spectre there either)

Racer X had a total of 5 blinder heads, but alternated going from two, three, four, five and so on. He has a large chrome front end and he was hopefull that the bra that he was using would shield that area, it didn't. That area was his weak point and when I shot there at close range, even with 5 heads, I got him. At long range (600 feet more) he had no problem using only 2 heads. What he is after is jam to the gun.

When he used 1 head to the rear, he had pretty good jamming. The color of his tailgate was dark green and it was hard to get a good target with that color.

Wow, This is really great stuff. I am surprised that with 5 heads he still had punch thru at close distances. RacerX has one heck of a setup. 600ft is nothing to sneeze at with a truck that size and most impressive if it can be done with 2 heads! Very impressive. I am really looking forward to seeing the numbers from the runs.

I look forward to hearing more about the new RD. Sound very interesting. Let us know what you find out.

    Default Drivesmart updates

Yes the timing is easy to change we are workng on some new software right now as we have new software running on the Defender2 that will be used in the Drivesmart as well it reacts within miliseconds.
Sounds are easy to change and we are releasing a new Wav file for laser alerts that is loud and specific to a laser alert rather than a voice alert again this is quite straight forward to change.
This is the benifit of having a software upgradable system you can change things easily and quickly

    Default Software

The dev team are sending Roy some new software that will pulse count from 1+ this will detect the Atlantic in stealth mode and also be very very quick in detectng any laser source.
Stalker will post up a new wav file for the laser sound as well,This is really easily done and you can even record your own customs alerts on our system!

DOes it detect photo jammer frequency (34.3Ghz) KA?

    Roy beat me to it.
I have good news and bad news.

the good news. i'm in vegas. 10 miles from Roys we saw a 240 mi to vegas sign, so we opted for a last minute trip to vegas after the test.

the bad news. I won't be posting results or videos for a few days.

interesting results. Roy summed up some of the highlights.

I had quite a few JTG and even several JFG.

    idid have punchthroughs too.

overall i'm pleased, even though I didn't get JTG every time.

i'll give details later but stealth mode is no longer an issue.

I will start a new thread with all details and vids along with opinions and observations so everyone can form there own final opinion and decision.
