Does anybody know approximately what year that cops started using radar guns that had instant-on capabilities instead of just constant-on?

Sometime in the mid to late 70s. I think the K-55 was the first I/O unit on the market. By the early 80s, all of the radar manufacturers had an I/O model. Kustom had the KR-10/11, Decatur the MV-715/724 and MPH was still pumping out the K-55.
i was just gonna ask a n00b question; if I\O applies to laser only. so basically, unless you have a radar jammer(which is illegal), a leo can use I\O radar and there's nothing you can do?
My guess would be around 1977 or 1978. The Mighty Professor Jimbonzzz probably knows the correct answer.
Nope, I don't. But, I agree with what bart99gt posted.
The earliest radar unit that I know of that had an official "Hold" feature was the K55, which was introduced in the mid-70's. However, the K55 had some different rev's, and I don't know if the first-generation K55's actually had the Hold feature or if it came later.
Thanks for the information.
I saw it in use around '82 so I know it had to be developed before then.
