    Default 1.5 miles or so....

i am somewhat new here, and i remember when i first got my detector and came to the forums here, i asked what the range on detectors were.
and i got some replys back saying anywhere up to 1.5 even 2 miles or more in some cases. when i heard that, i totally didnt believe that i could get a reading from that far away. but....i was coming home the other day and i get a medium "X" band alert. that is already weird, i live in central oregon, and ive had my detector for about maybe 5 months or so and havnt had a single "X" band alert (except for falses). anyways, after slowing the **** down and looking around for anything that could possibly set off an "X" band alert, i finally realized the it wasnt a false, another mile or more maybe down the road, the cop FINALLy passed me.

i just thought id share my story with the rest of you.

...Oregon doesn't use X band, according to this thread.

Was it a local yokel or a statey?

    Default thread is wrong

i actually didnt think oregon used it either. but i actually talked to a cop in my city that i know, and straight up asked him what cops around central oregon are using, and he said that used everything and that state troopers are using alot of vascar lately. i even specifically asked him about x band because it is so old but he said that they even use that too. but not much though...but they do use it. they mostly use "k" band.

so the thread is off a little bit, i got a cop using "x" band. i had a high alert and he went right by me. there was no mistake about about.

Local yokels are not accounted for by this thread, so yeah, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked to hear that there are some smaller towns still using X band.

It has been three years since I passed through Oregon but the highway patrol had X band as well. Even the speed signs were X band
