    Default 955 V.S refurb 8500 non x50 against 35.5 ka band

Which one would you think would do better against 35.5 ka band. Oh an also let me add I sold my V1 because I need cash fast and I also do need a cheap detector fast. Or should I wait for the new Whilster SE series.

A new 955 would be my choice against 35.5, along with less falses. I tried a 955 Rev 6.1 for a few weeks and loved it except for its ****ty ramp up.

I see you tried both the 955 and the x50, you say the 955 does better at 35.5

A new 955 would use the M4 horn whereas a refurb 8500 will have the older S7. Between both of my current RDs, (both S7) I give the nod to the 955 for 35.5 and IO but i think it's only due to manufacturers variance. The newer 955 (M4) which I recently used for a comparison was my cousins; we swapped them to see how different the two platforms were.

A new 955 is best suited for straight roads and urban areas whereas an older 8500 would be better for highway driving or curvy roads. The 8500 has the advantage of spec display which can help you determine how to react to Ka threats based on frequency, but if you can live without it on the V1, you probably won't care much for it on another RD. The 8500's expert meter works similar to V1's bogey counter, except I don't find the expert meter to be very accurate.

The tests that I have seen place the V955 and the X50 pretty neck and neck in forward facing 35.5 and off axis 35.5.

I would get the X50 over the V955 any day of the week due to the xtra useful features because the performance between the 2 are pretty much equal.

the 955 and the x50 are neck and neck, but the 955 performs slightly better than the non x50 on 35.5 in my experience, but not by much. My 8500 didnt false as much tho either

Plus the 8500 you can turn off X band if not needed, but you cant turn off X band on the 955 and that can turn into a very noisey drive. The 8500 also has a threat counter which the v955 does not have.

    8500 hands down.

Strange because my buddy who has the V955 could not turn it off after we tried to go thru the options, the manual says it can but we could not find that option to turn off X band.

The only Vector series that you can turn off speed bands (X,K,Ka, POP) is the V995. Per the Beltronics website the only bands that are able to be changed on the V955 is POP and SWS.

I would go with the 8500 just because I am a fan of them. Can't turn off X on the 955 have to go 995 to do that and you will want it off if it is not used in your area
