Default strange encounter this morning - RX65

    Hey guys,

Quick question. I am still kinda new at this so perhaps there is an easy explanation for this. I was driving into work this morning and all of a sudden my RX65 went to FULL K band alert VERY abruptly (scared the crapola outta me). Then the signal died down to about a K4 and 3 seconds later a local LEO came around the bend right at me.......still at K4. I just thought that was odd. Most of the locals ride around with their radar constant on K band. So the detector alert will usually ramp up slowly as they approach and then be at full when they are right in front of me.............or.........not quite full (this is an RX65 after all ). Anyway, is it possible this was instant on? The alert never went away and I still had about 3 seconds or so before I saw him come around the bend. I just thought it was odd that I got such a full alert so abruptly and then it actually faded down as he got closer. Any ideas?

Is there any delay with the cop getting a read with Instant On or is it a done deal by the time you hear the alert?

It depends if your the only car on the road or not?. With instant on long range is the name of the game so having a highend detector is a must.

If your the only car on the road and if you get hit with instant on and if your speeding then you should just pull over and get your ticket.

Now that I think about it, I dunno if he was actually using instant on or not. He was moving and really there was no reason for him to use instant on. The signal stayed on after the initial K9 alert and after it died down. What I am thinking is maybe that just happened to be the time when he turned it on. Maybe it was at a higher range (higher power) when he first turned it on and he dropped it down in sensativity after that. Was just odd that it started out abruptly and VERY strong and actually faded as he got closer.

I've had LEOs use Instant On while moving.

Don't they usually turn it off after the initial burst though? Or do they just flip it on and then leave it on?
