I agree. You should be able to pick up Ku from miles away, unless the guns that do come out are really low powered.

The only advantage LEOs will have with Ku is over the majority of RD users who don't have Ku detection. If Ku takes off, all the RD manufacturers will add it, and today's "3 band plus laser" detectors will be as obsolete as the "X and K" detectors from the 80s.

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

They are using Ku band here in the UK, but it's a very weak radar,
my V1 picks it up ok and so did the Bel 550, but for some reason not until your close but you can normally see the trap before it's to late.

I was up in the Lake District a few weeks back and came across one
and I had about 500 metres notice on it as I was driving towards it.
here cops do you from the rear.
The Ku stuff they are using here is connected to small portable camera's
I'll try to find some photo's of the traps.

here's how some of the traps looks

bloody sneaky if you ask me.

They tried to banner detectors here but the rulling failed.

Only GPS units would be allowed, this I believe would mark a return
to radar traps over the current laser traps.

the mini gatsos use ku band and the range given for detection is more than the k band gatsos.

my snooper says about 100 yards for gatsos and 600 yards for mini gatsos. so if a v1 can detect normal gatsos at 500 meters in some cases than i wouldnt worry about the ku band...

just keep your eyes open for new radar using this band in the us and when you do know they are using it enable ku band...

and if your an escort user complain to escort for an update!
