i have had a bel rx-65 since june and i am not certain how confident i can be of it.

i have seen countless cops sitting at the side of the road with out hearing a beep out of the thing

i live in wiscsonsin and was wondering if there is something else that they may use to detect if you are speeding

forgive me if i am just a dip@#$# but some one has told me that the cops use sonar now to catch you.....is there any truth to this?

also alot of the time it alerts me to laser i can not see anywhere that it might be coming from

No such thing as sonar speed detection. Sonar is like radar but it's underwater.

The laser hits are probably real. Just because you see cops on the side of the road doesn't mean they are radaring.

The easiest way to check is find a "Your Speed Is" sign and see if your detector goes off.

i know the detector works i was just worried about the soanar thing i thought it was bs but wanted to find out from some experts.

i have been reading around the forum and see alot of people recomending some veil or laser shield can ne1 tell me if that is something that i should invest in i have a 03 monte carlo

RadarRoy has a package of Veil + LaserSheilf for $100. I just bought mine a couple of weeks ago.

They went on easily and look good. However I haven't been hit by laser yet so I can't vouch for how good they work.

Veil reduces the amount of light reflection from a laser gun so it takes a lot of the range out of a cops laser gun. Eventually if you get close enough they'll get a speed rating but their range is much shorter.

LaserSheild is a license plate sheild that sort of scatters the laser beam reducing the range of the cops laser gun.

The intent is to minimize reflectivity to infrared light, used by LIDARS. Less reflectivity means less range on the gun, and more time for you to slow down, and more chance of getting an alert.

Depending on how much you are willing to spend and if it's legal in your area you might consider buying a Blinder (laser jammer).

LOL sorry for saying this but if u said that to me about someone telling u about sonar being used by cops in cars for speed detection i would have bursted out laughing. Thank you for posting tho but I also get this and 100% of the time its cops not running there radar unit so there is no radar to detect if u want to know more where cops are act ect.. i would pick up a police scanner a BearCat would be best
