    Default Dulling POP Alerts

OK, so I put my geek hat on, jumped in my car and ran an Escort 9500i and a 9500ix. I had the POP turned on on both units and my first alert was a POP, from the i, the next alert was a POP, from the ix. This went on for our whole hour trip. Needless to say, my wife was not impressed..... What caused this to happen??

You were running them both at the same time?

Running more than one RD in the same car can cause this, as each unit is picking up LO harmonics from the other one.

Next time, just run one of them at a time and they should be (a) quieter and (b) perform better.

Also, unless you know for certain that POP is used where you are, I'd turn POP off.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I can see some people who are unaware of the issues running two RDs next to each other, but why two RDs that have the same detection capability? (autolearn aside)

Probably just for fun. One time i ran 2 9500I's and an 8500 at the same time, needless to say it was a mess.

I did an old Bel and the unmentionable RD, and that was a real mess.

Turn POP off in both units. It will stop POP alerts. What caused it is both your i and ix leak radar signals that causes a POP alert. By turning POP off, it will disappear. Try it that way and check it out.

Thanks for all of the replies. I ran both at the same time. I did have the POP turned on (both units). Thanks for the POP info, I figured that they were both doing something to each other.

I did it because I wanted to. I wanted to see how fast their reaction time was. Considering that this is a radar site, I was under the impression that this was our little club-house where we discussed our toys, gave pointers, and shared detailed information. So, why wouldn't I run the two units side-by-side?? Silly me.............
