    Default Radar Frequencies in US & KU Band

    • X band radar (10.525 GHz ± 25 MHz)
    • K band radar (24.025 - 24.250 GHz)
    • Ka band radar (33.4 - 36 GHz)
    • Ku (13.400 - 13.500 GHz)
    • wideband Ka radar (frequency hops in 33.4 - 36 GHz)
    • laser -- laser radar, ladar, or lidar (904 nm Infrared)
    • Safety Warning System (SWS) messages (24.100 GHz ± 50 MHz)
    • Safety Alert messages (24.07 GHz, 24.11 GHz, and 24.19 GHz)

    So I read a manufacturer is or will be selling KU radar now or soon to market. Does anyone have any more info on this and detection performance? The RX65 and V1 are able to detect. Please add to any police radar frequencies I missed.

    You didn't miss any US freqs. But to elaborate a little:

    MPH Ka - 33.8 GHz
    Stalker Ka - 34.7 GHz
    Kustom/Decatur Ka 35.5 Ghz

    Despite what some websites might say, I am convinced that the frequency-hopping gun does not exist, unless someone presents some evidence otherwise (and I'm not talking about a weird Ka freq in "tech mode" either!) I talk a little more about it in this thread.

    Tha manufacturer working on the Ku gun is supposably Kustom. To my knowledge nobody has done any detection tests og Ku with the V1 and RX-65.

    I'm not sure about Ku band's future use in USA but do have some thoughts about it. More experienced detector users can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    I would think that Ku would be fairly easy to detect since the frequencies are lower (below K band). Just a guess. I'm not a radio frequency expert but I would think that wave length would have something to do with it.

    Yep, we've covered this topic before. Ku band (or, as I refer to it, "Xa band") is so close to X that it is very, very easy to detect. The only real advantage an LEO would gain by using Ku is that the vast majority of radar detectors don't pick it up yet.

    I've heard ideas that the power of the gun will be lower so it won't be as easy to detect.

    Maybe, if they use it in photo radar like they do in the mini gatso...
