    Default HILLS AND TURNS

I live in canada (Maritimes) there are lots of hills and turns in the roads down here. I have the whistler pro 73. I am getting about .2or.3 miles in average on the real sharp corners I have to be just coming around the turn to get the alert but he could be a mile away. I fine this radar is not real good on the sharp corners, or if you are coming up on a cop from behind and he is shooting radar ahead of me. But over all it does work well I think. If the terrian is flat it works very good on all bands k and ka band seem to be equal in range to me. Is there any radar that would be good in these types of condions or do they all not perform well in these areas.

Radar is directional and line of sight so you'll get limited detection range over hills and around curves, regardless of the detector being used. The upside is that the LEO can't clock your speed until he has line of sight either.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

So if I'm getting about .2 or .3 on hilly terrain this is not too bad then?

Where are you mounting the unit at?
High or low? If low try mounting it above the mirror if you can. This will help.
The results you are getting are not to far off from what I got during GOL testing on a twisty hilly road. I got a little better but that could be caused by several things.

It's really hard to say. Since the V1 and Belscorts have a better range on a flat, straight surface they may get better range but then again they may not. It all matters on how much radar is being reflected.

Think of it this way. I pass a "Your speed is sign" evey day on the way to work. It's at the bottom of a curvy hill. My range is .6 a mile, it's K band by the way.

There is another "Your Speed is sign" by my house that is on a flat and straight road. It is KA but I get 2 miles of detection.

Like I said, it's all about the amount of radar is being reflected. Every situation is different and even 2 of the extact same model of detectors won't perform identically.

I have gotten 4 mile range on a speed sign (Kustom KR10 K band radar inside) with my V1 and 3 miles with a BEL 850. This was on a straight road with a few small hills on it.

The range will vary a lot on curved roads. Sometimes you may only get a half-mile warning on Ka band if the curve is sharp enough. Due to the higher frequency the Ka band radar signal does not scatter very much around curves.
