Default Sweeping the entire Ka band...

I heard that some Radar Detectors sweep the entire Ka band, and others only sweep Ka frequencies from known Radar Guns to cut down on falses...

Which Brands/Models sweep only the known Radar Gun Ka frequencies?

PNIs, BELs in "Accusweep" mode, and the BEL RX-65 in USA Mode. But the main reason for this isn't to cut down on falses. Concentrating the sweep to known radar frequencies allows them to be examined for longer periods and more often, resulting in better sensitivity.

BEL RX65 in USA mode only sweeps the known radar gun frequencies. In INTL mode it sweeps the entire band, as do most other detectors including the X50 and V1.

I have a 985 with Accusweep. I tested speed of response with Accusweep on and off and compared it to a V1 1.7. BEL claims that Accusweep speeds the Ka response but I did not see that, and V1 beat it easily in speed of response to a Stalker Dual SL.

Like GTO_04 mentioned, I don't think USA mode or Accusweep would effect response time much.
The manufacturers build filters into their software where a signal must be present for longer than a specific amount of time in order to actually trigger an alert. This is one method they use to prevent falses from short signals that are characteristic of interfering harmonics from the sweeping LOs of other "junk" detectors. Ultimately, this is the main thing that determines response time.

I believe this is the same Mike I talked to and he mentioned something similar: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?p=32141

I'll second Jim's comment that it's purpose isn't to reduce falsing, on the contrary, my Ka falsing goes up with USA mode turned on with my RX65 since the sensitivity is so much more.

I have a Bel985 and have Accusweep turned off, no reason in particular, lets just say I dont put my entire trust into anything, was recently going to turn the mode on to possibly have a extra second of warning but as GTO mentioned and told me the same earlier on, its noting noticable, so I abandoned the idea.

To date have never had a flase Ka. I was listing the frequencies in order to see if I can safely trust the technology, but gave up on that as soon as I discovered variances in calibration/frequency hopping, in the end simple feel better going through the entire frequency because I have seen all ranges of Ka bands as well as the fact of the matter that I do not want to chance Accusweep missing something for whatever chance reason.

I recently experimented (2 weeks driving in USA mode same routes) with my RX65 in USA mode. I had way more falses in USA mode. I have switched bas to INT. and ahhhh! the quiet

theres another post on here dealing with this also. guys use INT. mode and save your sanity.

    just my humble opinion.
