Today was the first real test of the whistler pro 78se. I used the unit to travel to and from work 18 miles each way. The first hit of radar was ka at level 3 then nothing. Then about a 1/2 mile down the road I got 34.7 ka and eyeballed the source, A Butler NJ leo at a jug handle turn around, car facing perpendicular to the road. Next hit was ka 34.7 in Nutley NJ, I got the first hit of c/o at about 3/4 mile in a residential area speed limit 35mph. Last hit was from a Pequannock NJ leo they had a van pulled over 2 leo cars 34.7 ka facing front very short warning on this hit. But did have a ka burst about 1/2 mile before the encounter. So it seems in this general area of north Jersey 34.7 is the choice unit. I also had full blasts of just ka with no id frequency as traffic passed in some locations. Cobras maybe? and of course the normal x band false signals. But in Jersey I need to keep x band turned on. I will be doing more testing everyday, and will test this unit on my trip to the Jersey shore next week.
