I'm sure we all know how great the economy currently is (*cough*). It seems I'm getting paid less working in my chosen trained field of electronics circuit boards than I could be making delivering PIZZA! WTF?? I just don't get it, all of that training and nobody wants to pay sqatt for what has always been considered a skilled trade. I now learn that some fast food places are paying much better and with good health insurance than what I THOUGHT was a good factory job (yeah right..). In fact, there are not too many jobs here period, so most of the jobs for the really big factories actually pay very little while now the little fast food places are starting to pay more and offer more benefits-- Man this is sooo bass-ackwards!
First a little background: I have a brand new small 2009 econo-box that is completely paid for due to a car insurance settlement for the ONLY single accident I ever had, and it was due to my brakes failing around a curve. I was not cited with anything nor blamed for the wreck, and nobody else was involved, just me flipping my 4X4 over and over on the road about 6 times!! - Thank GOD for SEAT-BELTS, and THANK GOD PERIOD!!! I walked away with only a scratch or two..... I was dizzy for a few days however, and I was angry with the car company because I had complained about my "ABS Brake Fault" alert going off/on and the dealership could NOT fix my problem and left it in a state that almost got me killed!! NEXT my car insurance was very nice to me, as my record was perfectly clean to this point, and they paid me a little more than I could of outright sold my truck for.... Thus....
I now have a 2009 car fitted with all of the electronics I like when I drive, and this is the most fun to drive car I ever had. 37 MPG is like a dream to a guy that was getting under 18 in a mid size 4x4! So basically my question is this:
By strict definition of Federal law (USA) is it not legal to use a radar detector while delivering PIZZA?? I know it's not legal for commercial drivers like Semi Truck Drivers to use RD's, and I have seen a few taxi cabs use Rds, and yes I have seen my share of RD's in the local pizza delivery cars too- BUT, is it LEGAL for one to do this? I get the feeling it may be technically not legal, but perhaps the leos often overlook these things because they realize such drivers are always in a mad rush just doing their jobs. - For example I have a relative that drive for FedEx for many years- In all that time he never got a speeding ticket, yet he admits doing mega speeding and even speeding right past the police and not once was he pulled over. Even he was surprised and he advised he never heard of a FedEx driver ever getting a speeding ticket. So, I have to wonder how the locals and state boys might view a small car with a pizza sign on top, and a radar detector discreetly mounted...??
