Anyone thats pulled a radar detector apart will see a cone shaped arial. It apears that radio waves get cought in the opening and are then bounced down until thay are picked up by the receiver. What comes to mind is to extend the aerial size and make the opening much larger to capture more radio waves. I done a rough test i cut up some coke cans and made four pieces with the same shape and angle as my radar detector is,i taped it together placed it infront of the radar detector. It all fit well so i raced of to the nearest door opener, one that i new operated on the same band that the police were using. Initialy i took it off and placed my car at a distance that would only just receive a signal.(signal was on for two secs and then off again.) once the extended airial was fited the signal strength meter was about 2-3 times stronger and contant this defenantly works. What do you guys think.
