Windshield Detector vs Photo Radar

Hi all!

Been reading... I know the best radar detector against the Multanova photo radar (34.3Ghz) is the STi-R which has now stopped production (anyone know what the replacement will be???)

But if you're talking about WINDSHIELD detectors... it seems the best game in town is the V1 in Euro mode (not sold by RB), the Bel RX65E (euro version, also not sold by RB), Escort X50E (euro version, again not sold by RB)... but these are all relatively expensive to the.... Whistler 78PRO SE...

I've been reading that Whistler somehow prioritizes the scanning of the frequencies so that the photo radar frequencies (which I'm guessing one of them is 34.3Ghz +/- 100Mhz or so)... is that true?

If so, would the Whistler 78PRO SE (sold by RB) be similar in performance to the RX65E, X50E, or one of those european-sold-only detectors (not considering the V1 either who wont ship outside the USA)?

The Whistler 78PRO SE is just around $200... so it'd be the cheapest option for a windshield photo radar detector with adequate performance?

Note this is just for a rarely driving spare car, I'd have the STi-R for my primary car.

The best for Multa is V1 period. When you compare money to performance ratio - SE series is quite good, especially if you look for some compromise. But if need real protection better invest in V1.

Far as i know beltronics xrc has already replaced it

The Whistler Pro 78SE will do well against photo cameras. However, the V1 will likely have the best sensitivity to them.

Haha yeh as I said for my main car I'm going with the STi-R (along with LI), but I can't justify spending over $300 on a V1 for just the backup car.

Pro 78SE is just compromise. Its detection is far, far away from V1. On the other hand SE can be even dozen meters before current version of RX65e.

Just a Neltronics rebrand. They rename all the Beltronics stuff with their own odd names... and then sell them as "special" versions.

Anyway, Ebay and some other places are still selling the STi-R, so I am going to pick up 2 units, 1 for now, and 1 to sell to my friends when they want it and can't get it (and I can cook up the price haha).
