Default NYC to Boston: Best Combo For the Task

My situation: I own an Infiniti G35 Coupe, which apparently seems to attract cops like bees to honey, with them pulling me over for any little reason they can find. On top of that I have a lead foot, and I drive from NYC-Boston at least 10 times a year (mostly during the night), so Iím willing to invest $1000 for a good RD + Laser Shifter/Jammer. After doing copious amounts of research Iíve narrowed it down to these optionsóany advice on which one is superior (or other recommendations) would be great, and of course Iím looking to purchasing from Roy:

Escort SRX (x50+ZR3 Shifter): Iím leaning towards this setup for a number of reasons. It has great integration between RD and Laser shifter, with all the bells and whistles (push-button, additional speaker, etcÖ). The x50 and the ZR3 are both solid performers with the ZR3 shifting 96% of lasers and the x50 with good range for detecting across all bands. I would guess the biggest downside is its lower mounting position, which reduces its ability to give a quick response. However, since I drive mostly at night, Iím guessing that the interference would be less. (Iím oftentimes the lone car on the road)

Beltronics RX65 (or V1?) + Blinder M-20 Xtreme (or M-40Öwhich one is more worthwhile?): I picked this grouping because this is the exact setup Ray used for the Cannonball run. The RX65 seems to be widely acclaimed for its RD capabilities while the Blinder also noted by some as the top of its class for laser shifting. The con is the lack of integration/hidden installationóbecause I live in NYC and Boston, Iím afraid of theft. Is the performance of this combo so much better than the SRX to justify its lack of bells and whistles?

V1 + Wait for AL6: I donít know much about the AL6, but there seems to be a lot of hype. What makes it so good?

I like AL6 but really you aren't giving up much with an M20.

For detectors I would wait until the Beltronics STi series starts to come on the market outside of Australia, it has the appearance of being a good unit. And anyway, RX65 MSRP would probably drop a little anyway...

Are you proposing buying the SRX with basically an X50 already installed and then on top of that another windshield variety X50? That would be a helluva setup!

No matter what setup you choose, wait for the Brand X detector (I guess we can say its name now, but I still like calling it "Brand X") and the AL6 to come out, if only so you can see their performance and price relative to other equipment, and see how big of an effect their release has on the price of other units (Brand X especially will have an effect on the price of a couple high-end units).

If laser is a serious concern for you, I'd strongly recommend ignoring the RX-65 and moving right along. It detects laser about as well as a brick on the dashboard would.

Stick with whatever detector you have, and if you don't have one, get a Whistler Pro-58 or 1730 series (you can get really good deals on both--the Pro-58 has better performance, but costs $30-70 more than the 1730/33/34/etc.) then hang onto it as your backup once the new system is set up. Definitely wait to buy a detector/jammer setup, though investing in Veil and a LaserShield along with the cheap detector right now would be a great move.

TexasRed: No, I only meant to have just the SRX, no x50 on the windshieldóI thought that the SRX basically was the x50 integrated with the ZR3.

Bcorby: Whatís Brand Xís name? And also, whatís the timeline for both? Iíve been doing searches and its been saying sometime by the end of the year. Is that accurate? I think Iím going to go with your suggestion and get a Whistler for protection. Thanks for your input!
