Thought you'd get a kick out of this.
I drive regularly between SLC Utah and SF Bay Area (I live in CA but have a job that takes me to Utah all the time).
In April I was driving I-80 Westbound through Nevada coming down Golconda Summit. There was the typical traffic - each car separated by 1 mile. I crested the minor summit and started downhill. I was cruising around 85mph in the slow lane, and noticed the semi-truck I had passed on the summit in my mirror (about 1/4 mile behind me) was closing distance fast. I was surprised as this guy was hauling two gasoline tank trailers. He was moving down the hill at 95 so I moved over to the fast lane and increased speed. (Kind of reminded me of the movie 'Duel' for a moment).
We both arrived at the bottom of the hill side-by-side doing 95, when my detector pinged Ka.
In EXACTLY the same moment, both myself and the truck were hard on the brakes as I looked behind to see a Nevada Highway Patrol car cresting the summit, about 1 1/2 miles behind us. I slid in behind the truck as we went along at 75mph, and waited - the cop eventually passing us with a smile on his face shaking his head..... no tickets for either of us - it probably looked funny.
