Default SML test, escort 13mile claim

so an award given to the redline, and subsequent reading of the thread, came acrost an answer from Escortradar about the 13mile detection, and the link to the SML test

now the SML test points us to this page

West Texas distances are immense. So is signal reception of radar detectors. Radar reception depends on humidity, elevation, absorption materials, reflection, refraction, and competing signals. In Hudspeth County, Texas we?ve used a nine mile range

basically this page gives us a nice rundown of their 9 mile test course..........keep in mind they claim 13mile detection of redline

so basically they already cut off the other detectors from 4 miles of possible alerts..........now we can take a peek at their data

basically it gives you X/Y/Z.......X being the miles away from gun that it picks up, Y being the currently signal strength, and Z being the maximum signal strength

if you look at all the detectors, mainly the 9500ix and V1, you see all 9 mile detection, but relatively high alert levels.......such as 4/7 and 5/7 from the 9500ix......along with 5/8 and 6/8 from the V1

so basically it got me wondering.........what would these two detectors(for my example, even the whistlers in theory would have more range as they have 2/9 and 3/9 alert lvls etc) have for actual detection range if they were actually tested at the same 13mile marker that the redline was

also wasn't SML one of the untrusted tests?......escort seems to enjoy their test.......however if my thinking is correct it seems sort of sleezy for escort to use the 13mile claim when the v1 or 9500ix would probably be AT VERY LEAST at the 11mile marker.....probably more like 12 or 13

after speaking with another on this issue it appears the redline was the only one to achieve constant detection at 13miles, while others would only sometimes alert

Moreover, do we need 13 mile detection?

Does anyone have the link to where they did a 13 mile test, showing the readings on the red line Vs the reading on the V1 ???

That would be about as useful as a car that goes 360 mph. Cool? Sure. Useful? No.

No we actually don't. We need an Escort to alert to Q/T and long range Q/T if at all possible.

the redline was prototype so it wasn't published, escortradar said other detectors would sometimes alert but not a constant alert

I disagree. Maybe if your stuck in LA or some city, it would be useless. But for those of us out in Podunk nowhere, I'd gladly take 13 miles of range (which the Redline won't deliver in the real world with vegitation, curves, hills and humidity)

In the city it would be useless since you'd see too many falses to make it work. For me, I have one set of automatic door openers within 13 miles of my house. The local HyVee has them. The other grocery stores you still have to open the door yourself. Also we have no issues with Q/T, but I/O is extremely deadly with the lack of traffic. There are many times you'll be the only car on the road and the common method of enforcement around here is moving I/O. So you can see where every bit of range to possibly catch a I/O shot at a car far ahead of you would be very important.

It sounds more like Trapster would be a benefit to you than 13 miles of range.
