    Default School Bus Tranmissions HELP!!

The local school district has installed K band transmitters on the front and rear of every school bus here where I live. Every bus give me two K band alerts. You can't drive anywhere in the city without running into them, all hours of the day. I have seen as many as 8 alerts at once. It makes using a detector in this area almost useless.

Does anyone know if there is a way to filter them out short of turning off K band altogether? The sole purpose of these emitters is to make folks detectors go off. The school district decided it might reduce accidents with buses if they set off everyone radar detectors. I thought use of radar frequencies for the purpose of disruption was illegal, but apparently the FCC doesn't care about it.

Does anyone know if the new TSR filter on the Escort 9500ix will block out these signals?

I need to find some relief from these school bus transmitters. Can anyone help me?

    Ask Mike - Report #3 - V1 programming.

I assume these things are K-band, right?

The V1 can be configured to ignore weak signals and to also only alert to any signals after a period of time. I don't think you'll be able to safely programming away the alerts without risking filtering real threats, but you might be able to minimize them enough that when you get one you can visually confirm it's just a school bus.

If you run it in big L mode (advanced logic), you won't be alerted at all to signals that are being filtered. In little L mode (logic) the alerts will be displayed and sounded at the muted volume, which I don't think you want because if you can see 8 bogeys you can't tell when there's a cop around.

I don't know how strong these alerts are or for how long you get them, so if you let us know we might be able to recommend specific settings. As a start, I would at least say to run it in big L mode and turn on option G - "mute rear K band."

Unfortunately, I think the FCC would do fawk all about your situation, and any attempts to formally complain about it would have you labelled as a speeding maniac who hates children.

Sneak in to the school bus yard in the middle of the night and remove, or better yet, disconnect the drones. Problem solved.

What a waste of taxpayer's money to install things like that on school buses, that will only alert a small percentage of drivers, and then it'll do more to annoy them than alert them.

TSR could help, however the duration of the signal is key. There may be a way for TrueLock to help too, but it looks like you got a tough one on your hands.

Ya, the only hope is following the buses around and locking them out anywhere they drive with a 9500I/ix. Essentially locking out K band in a 10+mi radius of the town. Just hope its a No Risk area.

Then he might as well just keep his V1 and filter the crap out of K-band. That would be easier and about as safe as convincing truelock to ignore every different bus's transmitter throughout the entire town, especially if they like to drift and aren't all in the same frequency block.

I see, didn't relies he had a V1 and not a 9500ix. (Just looked in his previous posts)

I would think he could filter the crap out of K band with his V1 and just press the button to go to full alerting when he gets out of the false bus area.

I like the idea of terroristic threats. Supposedly, they set these things up to "save lives", even though they probably have not had a school bus fatality in over twenty years or more. Perhaps if the school board were to learn that one school bus driver a week would die until the transmitters were disabled, something favourable might happen? Make your voice known! It can't hurt, right?
