Default What do you guys think about the Blendmount?

    Heey,

I stumbled across this product: BlendMount - (cant post link yet)
Mount your V1 without suction cups
Underneath and Tucked behind your Rear View Mirror
Multiple Adjustments for the perfect placement
View your V1 safely while driving

Search amazon for blendmount to see it

Is it worth it to get it for a radar detector? are there any negatives? Thanks!

Guys here will mostly agree that it sucks...

It does look like a nice product but it kinda puts your RD in the spotlight.

Blend mount is probably pretty awesome, right up and until the time your window gets smashed and your RD disappears, if you ignore those people tailgating you to watch the lights go off, and the officer behind you plays with his RD gun watching it go on and off until you get annoyed enough to shut it off.

I haven't heard bad things about the actual quality of the product, but the idea is poor. Most of the guys on here who talk about their setups tend to mount their detectors as high as possible and hardwire them so it's not so obvious.

The fact that it mounts your RD much lower than the optimal mounting position makes it a poor product. It does look cool, I think Z1Nonly uses it and it looks sweet, I just don't like my RD out in the open like that. It is on the same level as having a concealed display built into your RVM, it just isn't that effective. Hardwire it and mount your V1 high, using the visor clip.

    I use a Blendmount and a CD.

Blendmount vs suction cups... Suctioncups are not stealth, and I use my visors.
(And removing the RD is just as fast/easy as with the suction cup mount.)

Especially if you mount it dead-square in the center of the windshield like that, which almost no one here does.

I put it at the same level as the V1. The two radar detectors are side by side and the blend mounted RD is less obvious.

The dots above the mirror keep the suction cups from working up there and the mirror blocks anything higher than where the RD is now. I could mount on either side of the RVM, but then my visor would hit it and I would not have the RD aiming straight ahead. Due to the slope of my roof, my RVM hardly has a clear view to the rear, so mounting above that level attenuates signals for the rear-facing horn on the V1.

Besides my point was that the blend mount keeps my V1 "in the shadows". For stealth at a glance, it's better than suction cups as the pic show.

Here are some picks with the RD in a location that makes my visor useless.

This location also makes use of the quick release button anything but "quick", and the suction cups are still obvious.

I guess I am the odd ball here. I like mine center mass an inch or so above my wiper blades in my Nissan pick up.
