Sethy POP is a form of INSTANT ON. It's a sudden burst of RF and it is sensed by the RD INSTANTLY. I'm not saying this to be funny, it's fact.Originally Posted by Sethy

My RX65 will occasionally identify weak sources as POP or sometimes even go between POP and constant Ka when the source is close.
from the looks of it, the x50 falses on pop as much as the V1 in A mode on xband.
definately not a good sign.
no, not THAT much
no, not THAT much
On my 8500 w/out pop, today it was going from k to ka for about a block in the city where I normally never get anything. Never did see anything though. You guys are getting me WAY TOO into this radar detector cr*p!
Thanks, Chris
this crap will help us avoid tickets :-p
It's actually causing you to be alert and that's a good thing :wink:Originally Posted by cjs180
Remember this as well, just because you didn't see anything (LEOs) doesn't mean 1 (or 2) weren't there somewhere.
SWS was invented by the lobby organisation RADAR (Bel, Whistler, a few others) formed in the mid 1980's. SWS came "on line" in 1995. I don't know if there are any SWS transmitters in use anywhere at the moment, I've never seen one.
There is also Safety Alert signals too, produced by a different organization (Cobra, someone else).
SWS xmits on 24.1 GHZ. K band detectors scan 24.1 through 24.2.
