Default false pop, or real pop?

With my x50, i get quit a number of pops. Usually what happens is the x50 just bursts out with a POP warning, then goes back to normal

However, last night, I was at a traffic light and i got popped twice...but each time it happend, instead of going back to normal mode after the pop alarm sounded, it just displayed "K"...without signal strength. It lasted for about 1-2 seconds, and went back to normal.

Was this a real pop, or a false pop, or what?? I never have seen a band displayed after a pop alert like this.

there was a cop behind me and he was shooting instant-on KA and my KA would max, then it would say POP, then full KA. but the K wasnt stronge, so it could have been a POP for real.

I have SWS set on and have gotten POP alerts about the same as you with the K band displayed. I've passed many SWS signs on I-95 in NC but the RX65 never alerted to any of them. I did come up on a NCSHP shortly after. You think the SWS setting may be causing it?

Happy, you seen anything on areas that have SWS up and running (nationwide)? There are some in NC along I-95 that my Whistler 1430 would chirp to (construction zones). I'll close it up and see if there's a diff.

From what I have read SWS was a detector's company way of showing that a detector is for a lot more than just speeding. It never caught on so just turn it off. Dont worry about receiving a warning on a costruction zone. Ussually there are cops running speedtraps in these areas anyways so you can receive laser and radar warning in these zones until your heart is fully content

SWS transmits K-bands, so would you get a K band warning instead of SWS with SWS off

Either X or K. It's not always one.

thanks for the advise happy...but I've come up on some zones that just slapped you in the face and no cops around to tell you jack in NC. I'm just a bit curious...that's all.

As much as I hate to admit it, I believe that the escort has problems identifying instant on from POP on occation. I have had the same experiance you are having.
