Default Do you perfectly level your RD?

Do you take out a level and make sure your RD is perfectly level? I do and its really cold in Minnesota so it falls off the windshield sometimes then i gotta break out the level to make sure its perfect again.

I also really bugs me, because it looks completely not level because of the way the headliner is angled, but it really is level so i just have to overcome it looking funny

I thought i was the only one. I have a small keychain level and i just put it up to my v1 just to make sure every once and a while.

i live in upstate ny and it does get cold here but i can safely say i put my suction cups on my windshield once and they have never fallen for a god yr and a half...

must of been a good stick

i don't have a mini-keychain level (sounds neat though!)...but i always try to "eyeball" it as best as i can and get it level.

not sure if it helps/hurts performance, but it just looks better when it's level

About 3/5 down the page, "Off-Axis Test: Vertical"

For some detectors on some bands, there's a significant difference in performance at just a 10 degree slant, which means there's at least some difference at angles less than that. If it can't be perfect, it looks like it's better for most detectors to point slightly upward, but most of them perform the most consistently if they're level.

I figure if I was approaching an up-grade and LEO was up at the top, or cresting a hill and LEO was down below - oh well.
Then what if there was some RD mounting system that was self leveling while driving up & down hills.
Then what if a RD works with a GPS Navigation and turn left and right as the road curves left & right to scan a LEO around the curve - like those headlight trying too see the leading edge of the curve.

Ah heck - I just eyeball it - as long as it's not scanning for meteorites or my feet.

Only once with the V1. I then memorized where the speaker on the side of it lines up with its holder so I never have to measure when I mount te V1.

Do a search. This has been asked before. I eyeball it and it works fine, but I never remove either of mine. Have you actually tested it to make sure it works best at level? My X50 works best at about 2 degrees down tilt.

I have a mini bubble level in my car at all times for that purpose. I think I got it at the hardware store for about $3. and it fits in my ash-tray.

Do you guys measure if your RD is facing straight forward and not too much to left/right? Because some cars do not have straight front windows so if you attach your RD with original suction mount it will face more to left/right depending wether you'll attach it to the driver's or passenger's side.

Also if you mount it to the sun visor, the sun visors can be shaped to be "non-symmetrical". That means if you use visor clip which seems to you like well and straight attached, it may just look like that because of shape of the sun visor.

If you measure to check this "full forward facing" -thing, how do you do it?

I have single suction cup and a holder attached to it, like for GPS or mobile phones. So you never know if the holder is facing forward or not before you measure it.

Here's an example picture of what I'm using:
