    Default Radar question

I currently am running a escort 7100 looking to upgrade to either a pro Rx 65 or vector 995 waiting this summers test on Ku detection. However when I am driving I got a k alert it was very weak to say the least however there was a cop did not get a true full alert. Is this something on older detectors that is fixed in newer ones its almost like the radar unit in the police car is running on a lower power. If any one could help me out or tell me if its possible for the radar units to run in a lower power mode hope this makes sense. I do alot of times get very strong readings from radar. The lower alerts come on not only K but also on Ka and X.

The rx65 and that vector will go to full alert when there is a cop near. you wont have to worry about that

You may have experienced a radar unit that was set on lower power to catch targets at a closer distance. It's a known tactic LEAs use so don't assume there is a problem with your detector other than it's ability to detect low powered signals at a greater distance. You can't go wrong with a newer detector, that's for sure.

    Default Power

Two things could be at play

1: Yes, many radar guns have a power output control, he could have it turned down

2: Could have a hand held unit and the unit could had been on his seat or floor
